May Work Party (May 24th thru the 26th - Memorial Day
Weekend)
The weather is improving and it's time to spruce up the site. Generally,
this is a gathering of club members who don't mind volunteering the weekend to
improve conditions at the site.
Here's our work itinerary;
General cleanup of the site
Replace missing or tattered windsocks
Remove starthistle in the Buttonhook LZ and clear any bushes
that have returned since last year.
This work party occurs annually and is open to any club or individual who
wants to
help. Flying won't be interrupted and those who help receive a
current 'Friend of the Rim' sticker! For more details and how you
can help, email here.

Memorial Day Weekend
(5/24 to 5/26)
Informal gathering of 15 to 30 pilots. Winter is over and it's time to
go flying. Conditions on the Rim will definitely be improving.
Check weather conditions here. Pilots will be camping at
Hereford Ranch
and in the #2 LZ. The weather can be
unpredictable and cool so plan accordingly.
Burney Mountain
will likely be snowed in.
4th of July
(4th thru 6th)
Informal
gathering of 15 to 30 pilots. Flying season at the Rim is in full swing
now. Warm days and cool nights are the norm this time of year.

Burney Mountain is open to flying
by now. Just being on top of Burney offers one of the most incredible
scenic views in the area. If you plan on flying Burney, you must get on
launch by 9am. NOTE: Campfires in the LZs (and outside all established
campgrounds) will most likely be banned at this time of year due to fire
danger.
Check here for current fire restrictions.
The Hat Creek Volunteer Fire Department BBQ
(07/19)
This annual event occurs the
3rd Saturday of every July. Lots of fun, games and great food. It's
not a long weekend but if you can make it you'll find flying conditions great
(as usual in the summer) and you will be supporting a great cause. Can't
say for sure how many pilots will be here but you won't be alone, that's for
sure.
Labor Day Weekend (8/30 to 9/1)
Informal gathering of 20 to 40 pilots. Pilots and their families gather in
larger numbers than previous holiday weekends. This growing tradition celebrates
the longevity of the site and the value of
the lasting friendships that have been formed here. The weather is usually great,
check weather conditions here.
Pilots will be camping at
Hereford Ranch
and in the
#2 LZ. Burney
Mountain
is still accessible for flying. Pilots wanting to fly Burney
should arrive on top by 9am. NOTE: Campfires in the LZs (and
outside all established campgrounds) will most likely be banned at this time of
year due to extreme fire danger.
Check here for current fire restrictions.
